Fall Into Reading Challenge
22nd-Sep-2008 08:50 pm
I decided to add another challenge!

I'm having a good time with R.I.P. III. I've only written two reviews myself thus far, but I've really enjoyed reading everyone else's. I like the communal aspect of it, and I appreciate how loose the challenge is.

To that end, I've decided to add another loose challenge: namely, Fall Into Reading 2008. (Hence the post title. And the little graphic off to the side. Nope, folks, they ain't just red herrings).

Again, I like how loose the challenge is. I can pick books I'm already keen to read and know I'll get to! I can set the number of books I've chosen! Whee!

So I've decided I'll be reading the following books sometime between now and December 20th:

Kushiel's Avatar by Jacqueline Carey
The Night Watch by Sarah Waters

Luck in the Shadows by Lynn Flewelling
Morality For Beautiful Girls by Alexander McCall Smith
Collected Ghost Stories by M.R. James
Blood and Iron by Elizabeth Bear

The Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr
Children of the Night by Mercedes Lackey

A couple of those are also on my R.I.P. III list, and a few others appear on my LibraryThing 888 list. Horray for overlapping things!

Loved the first three on your list! I've been considering this one, but I probably won't join any new challenges for at least a month, when I'll know more about what I'm doing until the end of the year.

I started Kushiel's Avatar this afternoon and have got a good feeling about it. I doubt it'll be a quick read, but it looks set to be a very enjoyable one! I read the first two around this time last year, and am a bit surprised to see it's taken me so long to pick this one up.

I've been thinking about joining up with this challenge too. A big part of the reason I'm considering it is that I love the icon, and I'd love to put it on my blog. It's a pretty harmless challenge, so I'm sure I'll find my way over soon. And I love your beautiful swirly blog design.

It is quite a nice icon; I love how it captures the feel of the season, with its earth tones and season vegetation.

I've seen Alexander McCall Smith showing up on several Fall Into Reading lists. I've never read any of his books, but they definitely look intriguing and I'd like to give them a try one of these days. Thanks for being part of the challenge!

Thanks for organizing it! I've been working my way through McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency books, slowly but surely. I just love his depiction of Africa; you can tell he feels very deeply about Botswana and its people.
